Anya Bella Veach is a San Diego based artist who recently graduated from San Diego State with a degree in Theatre. She is a writer, actor, and musician who finds heavy inspiration in simple everyday life.

Don’t Get on the Freeway


Roger Henry-Playwrighting since only 2022, Roger has either won or placed in the San Diego Scripteasers' Annual Short Play Contest for the last three years and has had several of his short plays produced on stages from coast to coast.

Gentile Mensch


Anita Yellin Simons-Simons combines her love of history and activism in her award-winning plays. Her first play Goodbye Memories, about Anne Frank before hiding, was produced by La Jolla JCC in 2011 and was published by YouthPLAYS in 2021. Heartland (co-written with Lojo Simon), about German-Americans interned in U.S. camps during WWII, was produced by MiraCosta College Theater in 2008 and published by YouthPLAYS in 2019. Silence Is Not Golden, about domestic abuse, will have a production in Sedona in September 2025. Most of her plays concern social issues that require an audience to think and react.

To Miss Breed, With Love


Roy Sekigahama’s first play, Desert Rock Garden was produced at New Village Arts (Carlsbad, 2022), winning grants from the California Civil Liberties Program and National Endowment for the Arts. The production was nominated for four Craig Noel Awards including Outstanding New Production and winning for Best Director. His second play, The Ghosts from the Pali was read at New Village Arts’ New Play Festival (2020). The Garden of Eden Retirement Home was voted Audience Favorite at JCC’s Annual Jewish Short Play Festival (La Jolla, 2024). My Son’s Red Dress (2022) and Kabuki Theater in Texas (2023) were read at Roustabouts annual short play festivals. The Candidate and The Census was read by Asian Story Theater (The Old Globe, 2025). Roy is a two-time winner in Scripteasers annual short play contest. Outside of San Diego, Roy’s short plays readings include, Not Crazy Rich or Asian, PGE’s Faces of America Monologue Festival (NYC, 2021). My Son’s Red Dress at Fusion Theater’s Seven Short Works Festival (Albuquerque, NM, 2023). And Glam-Ma’s Favorite at Surfside Playhouse (Cocoa Beach, FL, 2025). Roy was a “Dramatists Guild Foundation National Fellowship Finalist (2024).” He is a member of the Dramatist Guild and sits on the Board of Directors of Playwrights Project.

Susan Gembrowski Baker is a founding member of Around the Block Playwrights, and a member of Dramatists Guild and Scripteasers. She serves on the boards of Playwrights Project, San Diego Writers, Ink, and La Jolla Playhouse as president of the Playhouse Partners. Susan is a former assistant metro editor at the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Ted Williams: A Tip of the Cap


Matthew Salazar-Thompson has been commissioned by The Roustabouts Theatre Company (‘hoods), North Coast Repertory Theatre (Ted Williams: A Tip of the Cap, Mistletoe, Music & Mayhem!), Compass Theatre (9066, The 146 Point Flame), New Fortune Theatre (Cellar Door, Switching Tracks), Coronado Playhouse (If the Shoe Fits, A Roman Holiday), The Road Theatre (Who's on Alpha?), The Roustabouts Theatre (Hoods), and Point Loma Playhouse (The Complete History of Theatre (abridged), A Christmas Carol: The Classic Radio Drama). His play, Who's Afraid of Me, Myself and Edward Albee? was conceived of and mentored by Edward Albee himself over the course of several years and later turned into a shot film by Aquanaught Productions. In 2016 Mr. Thompson collaborated with La Mama Experimental Theatre Group in Umbria, Italy with resident master playwright Mac Wellman in the development of his comedy The Complete History of Theatre (abridged) and the revision of The 146 Point Flame which was mentioned in Southern Theatre Magazine as one of the top ten plays to produce on the social topic of immigration. He also worked with Mr. Wellman in the development of Switching Tracks which has had several professional staged readings and was a top five finalist for the Detroit New Works Festival in 2017 the Garry Marshall Theatre New Works Festival 2018 and North Coast Repertory Theatre’s Playwriting Showcase. His plays have been published through Dramatic Publishing and Heuer Publishing.
